Noongar Seasons
Six seasons of southwestern Australia, read from country
The Noongar people of southwestern Australia keep six seasons, not four, each read from what the land is doing — the flowering, the rains, the movement of animals — rather than from a fixed date. Being southern, it also runs opposite to the northern calendars beside it: Makuru is the cold, wet heart of the year.
